bunq statements can cover multiple sub-accounts in one document. The converter detects each sub-account's section, keeps its balance chain separate, and exports one worksheet per account so joint and savings spaces don't blend together.

  • Verified against the balance

Every row is reconciled against the statement's running balance, so a misread digit is flagged, not silently wrong.

  • Encrypted, then deleted

Your file is processed over an encrypted connection and the original PDF is deleted the moment conversion finishes.

  • QuickBooks & Xero ready

Export import-ready QuickBooks (QBO) and Xero files with stable IDs, alongside Excel, CSV, and JSON.

How to convert a bunq statement

  1. 1

    Upload your statement

Drag the bunq PDF into the converter above, or browse to it. Scans, phone photos, and password-protected files all work.

  2. 2

    AI reads every transaction

Dates, descriptions, and amounts are extracted page by page, then cross-checked against the statement's running balance.

  3. 3

    Review and download

Anything that doesn't reconcile is flagged for a quick fix, then you export to Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, Xero, or JSON.

How to download your bunq statement

  1. Open the bunq app and go to the account (or sub-account) you want.
  2. Tap the account, then “Statements” (or Profile → Statements).
  3. Choose the account and the date range.
  4. Export it as a PDF (or CSV) and share it to yourself; a combined statement covers linked sub-accounts.

bunq statement formats and where they trip up converters

bunq personal account (with sub-accounts)

One document can span several sub-accounts, each with its own IBAN and balance, with dense SEPA metadata under every payment.

Synthetic example — not a real statement

MAIN ACCOUNT — NL•• 1234

Salary — Acme B.V.+2,600.00
To Easy Savings-400.00

EASY SAVINGS — NL•• 9876

From Main account+400.00
Auto-save round-up+3.20

Each sub-account has its own IBAN and its own opening and closing balance.

  • A single bunq PDF can cover several sub-accounts, each with its own IBAN and running balance, so one merged ledger would be nonsense.

Each sub-account is detected on its own, its balance chain kept separate, and exported as its own worksheet.

  • Every payment carries dense SEPA metadata — mandate references, creditor IDs, remittance information — spread over several lines.

The metadata is folded into a single row per transaction with the amount cleanly separated.

  • Auto-save round-ups and transfers between your own sub-accounts sit in the same feed as real spending.

Round-ups and internal transfers are labelled as transfers, so they don't count as income or expense.

What the export looks like

Every row rebuilt in date order and checked against the running balance. A green check means it reconciles; an amber flag means it needs a quick look before export.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a bunq statement to Excel?

In the bunq app, open the account, go to Statements, pick a date range, and export the PDF (or CSV). Drop it into the converter above and download the result as Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, Xero, or JSON. Your first page each day is free, no account needed.

My bunq statement covers several sub-accounts. Will they stay separate?

Yes. bunq gives every sub-account its own IBAN and balance; the converter detects each one, keeps its balance chain separate, and exports it as its own worksheet, so your main account and savings never blend into one ledger.

What happens to the SEPA references under each payment?

They're preserved. Mandate references, creditor IDs, and remittance information are folded into one row per transaction with the amount cleanly separated, so nothing you need for reconciliation is lost.

Do auto-save round-ups and internal transfers get counted as spending?

No. Round-ups and transfers between your own sub-accounts are labelled as transfers, so they don't inflate your income or expense totals.

Does it work with bunq Business statements?

Yes. Business accounts use the same multi-account layout; each account is kept separate and the SEPA detail is preserved.

Can I import a converted bunq statement into QuickBooks or Xero?

Yes. Alongside Excel and CSV, the converter exports QuickBooks (QBO) and Xero files with stable transaction IDs, so re-importing an updated statement won't create duplicates.
