Ally's online-only statements are clean PDFs, but interest postings and transfer descriptions are verbose. The converter trims them into readable rows while keeping the full description text, so your spreadsheet stays searchable.

  • Verified against the balance

Every row is reconciled against the statement's running balance, so a misread digit is flagged, not silently wrong.

  • Encrypted, then deleted

Your file is processed over an encrypted connection and the original PDF is deleted the moment conversion finishes.

  • QuickBooks & Xero ready

Export import-ready QuickBooks (QBO) and Xero files with stable IDs, alongside Excel, CSV, and JSON.

How to convert a Ally statement

  1. 1

    Upload your statement

Drag the Ally PDF into the converter above, or browse to it. Scans, phone photos, and password-protected files all work.

  2. 2

    AI reads every transaction

Dates, descriptions, and amounts are extracted page by page, then cross-checked against the statement's running balance.

  3. 3

    Review and download

Anything that doesn't reconcile is flagged for a quick fix, then you export to Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, Xero, or JSON.

How to download your Ally statement

  1. Sign in at ally.com (Ally is online-only, with no branches).
  2. Open the account, then go to “Statements & Tax Forms” (Documents).
  3. Select the monthly statement you need.
  4. Download it as a PDF.

Ally Spending & Savings

Clean online-only PDFs with a running balance, but long ACH and interest descriptors and Savings “buckets”.

Synthetic example — not a real statement

ACCOUNT ACTIVITY

ACH Deposit ORIG CO NAME:ACME PAYROLL ID:1234+2,300.00
Interest Paid Annual Percentage Yield Earned+4.18
Transfer to Savings bucket — Emergency-500.00
Debit Card Trader Joe's #182-61.44

Ally prints a running balance; Savings “buckets” are allocations within one account.

  • ACH and interest descriptors run long — “ORIG CO NAME”, originator IDs, “Annual Percentage Yield Earned” — and wrap across lines.

Each descriptor is collapsed into one readable row while the full text is kept so your spreadsheet stays searchable.

  • Ally Savings uses “buckets” — allocations inside a single account — that can look like separate transfers.

Bucket allocations are labelled as transfers within the account, so they don't double-count as income or expense.

  • As an online-only bank, Ally posts interest monthly and never a running balance you can eyeball against a branch slip.

The running balance is rebuilt from each transaction and reconciled line by line, so a misread amount is flagged before export.

What the export looks like

Every row rebuilt in date order and checked against the running balance. A green check means it reconciles; an amber flag means it needs a quick look before export.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert an Ally Bank statement to Excel?

Sign in at ally.com, open Statements & Tax Forms, and download the monthly PDF. Drop it into the converter above and download the result as Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, Xero, or JSON. Your first page each day is free, no account needed.

Ally's transfer and interest lines are really long. Will they clutter my spreadsheet?

No. The verbose ACH originator and interest descriptors are collapsed into one readable row each, while the full text is preserved, so you can still search and categorize without the wrapping mess.

How are Ally Savings buckets handled?

Buckets are allocations inside a single savings account; the converter labels movements between them as transfers so they don't double-count as income or expense.

Does the running balance get verified?

Yes. Ally prints a running balance, so each extracted row is checked against it and anything that doesn't reconcile is flagged for review before you export.

Does it work with Ally Money Market and CD statements?

Yes. Money Market and CD statements use the same clean layout; interest postings and transfers are handled the same way.

Can I import a converted Ally statement into QuickBooks or Xero?

Yes. Alongside Excel and CSV, the converter exports QuickBooks (QBO) and Xero files with stable transaction IDs, so re-importing an updated statement won't create duplicates.
