Monzo merchant names are prefixed with emoji category icons (🛒, ☕, 🚕), which OCR and copy-paste turn into stray characters or drop entirely.
The emoji tag is stripped from the merchant name, and where useful its category is kept in a separate column.
Transfers to and from Pots (Monzo's sub-savings) are woven into the main feed alongside real spending.
Pot movements are labelled as transfers, so they don't inflate your income or expense totals.
Bill splits and shared tabs create small paired credits and debits that clutter a ledger.
Each split is extracted as its own row with the counterparty preserved, and the running balance still reconciles line by line.
